請問保單忘了繳費 - 保單

我有一張定期壽險保單應該在7/25號就繳費了
不過一直忘記把錢存進自動扣款的帳戶
聯絡業務員,業務員告知這張保單已經失效，我需要重新買一張保單
我對這個南山的業務員印象很差，感覺此人會說謊騙新保單。
我妹也因為忘了繳保費跟他重新買過2次保單
後來我妹直接與南山其他業務討論過當時舊保單還有效力，不需要重新購買保單
請問保單如果忘了繳，多久以內還有效力續繳，不需再買新保單
不然每隔兩三年就要買一次新保單，感覺非常不划算。
