Bank of England maintains Bank Rate at 0.5% and the size of the Asset
Purchase Programme at ￡200 billion

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee today voted to maintain the
official Bank Rate paid on commercial bank reserves at 0.5%. The Committee
also voted to maintain the stock of asset purchases financed by the issuance
of central bank reserves at ￡200 billion.
The minutes of the meeting will be published at 9.30am on Wednesday 20 April.
Note to Editors
The previous change in Bank Rate was a reduction of 0.5 percentage points to
0.5% on 5 March 2009. A programme of asset purchases financed by the issuance
of central bank reserves was initiated on 5 March 2009. The most recent
change in the size of that programme was an increase of ￡25 billion to a
total of ￡200 billion on 5 November 2009.

The Bank will continue to offer to purchase high-quality private sector
assets on behalf of the Treasury, financed by the issue of Treasury bills, in

綜合媒體4月7日報導，英國央行（Bank of England）7日維持基準利率於記錄低點不變，
面對不斷上行的通脹壓力，決策者似乎認為確保經濟復甦更加重要。
英央行貨幣政策委員會（Monetary Policy Committee，MPC）決定連續第26個月維持基準
利率於0.5%不變，同時維持債券購買規於2,000億英鎊（約合3,240億美元）不變，均符合
經濟學家預期。
面對超出設定目標一倍多的通脹，英央行決策者背負的壓力越來越大。儘管在3月的政策
會議上，9位委員中有3位投票支持收緊政策，但多數委員還在靜待更多的證據證明經濟復
甦能夠承受住政府的緊縮計劃。
經濟學家普遍預計，歐洲央行（European Central Bank）將在稍晚時候宣布2008年7月以
來首次上調利率。
大和證券公司（Daiwa Securities）駐倫敦經濟學家Hetal Mehta稱，在局勢還非常交雜的
情況下預期央行會改變觀點為時尚早。盡管央行面臨足夠大的通脹上行壓力，但英國的經
濟復甦仍然非常脆弱。
雖然4月5日的報告顯示英國3月服務業呈現一年多來最快速擴張，但英國統計局6日公布的
數據顯示，製造業活動在2月放緩。同時，加速上升的通脹正在削弱消費者支出。
