〔即時新聞／綜合報導〕美國在加勒比海上的島嶼波多黎各於昨（3）日，向美國聯邦法
院宣告破產，積欠債務達700億美元（約新台幣2.1兆元）。波多黎各為美國的「自由邦」
，意指未被整併的領土，並非一個國家。但享有許多美國國民的權利，甚至可以領美國護
照。
波多黎各積欠債務達700億美元（約新台幣2.1兆元），為2013年破產的密西根州底特律市
的約四倍債務，成為了有史以來美國最大的破產宣告，而今後將於法院的管理下進行債務
整理。波多黎各由於長期經濟委靡不振，由於求職困難造成勞動力向美國外移，人口快速
減少，財政也急速惡化。2015年8月宣告債務不履行，與債務人的避險基金協議也不了了
之。
而市政破產雖然不會對波多黎各人民的生活帶來立即衝擊，但許多人已經處於貧窮的狀況
下，而未來波多黎各的退休金、公職人員薪水、健康、教育服務等公共事務可能會有很大
的波動。
