美國總統川普周六（25日）透過推特預告，美國即將與墨西哥達成重大的貿易協議，又指美、墨兩國的關係正在改善。美國和墨西哥周末繼續就北美自由貿易協議（NAFTA）進行談判，而川普在推特上稱：「我們與墨西哥的關係變得更緊密，墨西哥的新、舊政府都有非常好的人，全都緊密合作，美國可能將與墨西哥達成重大的貿易協議。」
川普上台後，曾多次批評NAFTA是可怕的協議，去年要求加、墨兩國，與美國重新談判NAFTA的內容，並要求加入「落日條款」，簽署國需要每5年續簽一次，導致談判陷入僵局。但墨西哥於七月選出新總統後，川普不斷釋出善意，直言想與墨國新政府，發展較好的關係。而加拿大外長弗里蘭（Chrystia Freeland）已表示，等美、墨兩國的談判有結果後，加拿大會加入談判，進行3方會談。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
