高通委託三星代工的5G晶片接連出包,傳出高通緊急找台積電(2330)幫忙,在台積電中
科15B廠6奈米製程增加約一季2萬片的投片量,較原本的量多一倍,預計8月至9月間產出
,同時也洽談明年5奈米新增投片量,為台積電後續營運增添強勁動能。
台積電向來不對單一客戶與接單狀況置評。業界人士指出,高通5G晶片生產策略,採台積
電與三星兩家代工廠並行方式進行。去年12月初,高通宣布推出高階旗艦處理器「驍龍
888」,強調以標榜頂規效能表現,採用三星5奈米製程生產。
然而,第一款導入「驍龍888」處理器的小米11,不少評測結果傳出有過熱,並且有明顯
耗電等情況;高通緊接著又推出使用7奈米「驍龍870」,被視為修正「驍龍888」的缺點
,今年第1季就被OPPO、一加、小米、iQOO、Motorola等品牌手機採用。
高通「驍龍888」處理器過熱的問題,被導因於三星製程所致,影響高通晶片效能表現。
事實上,三星代工大廠手機處理器出狀況並非頭一遭,當年三星與台積電分食蘋果
iPhone 6與iPhone 6s搭載的A9處理器代工訂單時,就曾發生「晶片門」事件。
當年三星以14奈米生產A9處理器,台積電則是以16奈米代工,表面上三星採用的技術層次
高於台積電,但果粉實測後發現,搭載三星代工的A9處理器的iPhone,無論在與耗電量、
溫度、效能等都遜於搭載台積電生產的晶片的版本,也因為這次事件,台積電之後獨拿A
系列處理器大單。
高通委由三星操刀的5G晶片不僅出現過熱問題,據中國大陸媒體近日報導指出,高通的
Mobile Station Modem晶片中,出現了安全性漏洞問題,駭客或者攻擊者可以利用該漏洞
注入惡意程式碼,來獲取Andriod使用者的各種資訊,甚至還能竊聽使用者的通話內容、
解鎖SIM卡等,市場仍在觀察對高通晶片出貨動能的影響。
市場傳出,高通考量近期5G晶片狀況連連,將把部分訂單移回台積電,除了今年新增在台
積電6奈米的投片量外,明年還會有5奈米的新增投片量。
法人圈傳出,高通這次在台積電6奈米的新單,主要針對驍龍6系列產品,內部代號為「
Kodiak」,新增投片量多達一季2萬片。
