Much of the trade focus has been on China. However, the United States agricultural industry could be at a significant tariff disadvantage starting April 1 and it has nothing to do with China.
Eleven Pacific Rim Countries went ahead with a deal without the United States, after the Trump Administration exited the agreement. That agreement is the updated Trans Pacific Partnership Deal called CPTPP. April 1 marks the date tariffs will start to drop for countries within the CPTPP agreement, not good news for U.S. agriculture.
